Two teams will debate each topic, one team in the affirmative and the other team in the negative. The debate topics are:

1. Should spam be illegal?
2. Should online gambling be illegal?
3. Should free music and video downloads be stopped?
4. Is privacy, for all practical purposes, dead?

Except for the concluding speaker, each person has two minutes to speak. The concluding speaker from each side has three minutes.

A coin toss decides the team (affirmative or negative) that opens the debate. Speakers then alternate between affirmative/negative. The last two speakers from each team summarise their arguments and convincingly rebut the other team's arguments.
The quality of your preparation, participation, co-operation, substantive argument, rebuttal and elocution determine your mark. The audience also grades each team.

You will learn your topic and then have 45 minutes to research the topic. You will then learn if you take the affirmative or negative, and have an additional 30 minutes to craft your arguments.

There is no written component to this assignment.
