Roald Dahls' "Fantastic Mr. Fox" is a clever fox who outsmarts three bumbling farmers.  Mr. Fox always steals from Boggis, Bunce and Bean.  Each night Mr. Fox would steal from one of them, yet they could never catch him.

One night the three farmers hid behind a tree to catch Mr. Fox.  Although Mr. Fox would always sniff to make sure that the coast was clear, the farmers were downwind.

Mr. Fox didn’t smell them.  He heard a noise but thought it was a field mouse or something else.  Then he saw something reflect off the moon, it was a GUN

He scampered down his hole but the farmers managed to shoot off his tail.  Mr. Fox was sad.  Not having a tail hurt.  And it was so embarrassing!

Boggis, Bunce and Bean failed.  Then Bean thought, "let’s dig him out with shovels."  They started digging.  But they failed again because the foxes (Mr. Fox, Mrs. Fox and their four children) dug faster.

Then Bean thought tractors could dig Mr. Fox’s family out faster.  They dug all day long.  Yet they failed once more.

So, Boggis, Bunce and Bean surrounded the foxes’ hole.  They would starve the foxes to death.  But sly Mr. Fox had another idea.

Mr. Fox thought he could dig under each farmer’s house for food.  He did.  Over the next few days, he burrowed to each house.

Mr. Fox had a feast with the other underground animals.  He invited all the families, the badgers, rabbits and moles.  They lived happy, feasting on the farmer’s foods.

Boggis, Bunce and Bean are still sitting, waiting for the foxes to come out.
