Methodology

Objectives - after this module, you will be able to:
  • Given the opportunity, choose to participate in discussions of effective hospitality industry Internet use.
     
  • Use the Internet more effectively, personally and professionally.
     
  • Use examples to summarise eight M's of Internet Marketing -- mission, mechanics, metrics, marketing, management, maintenance, money and Murphy's Laws (Gesetze).
     
  • Critique a given hospitality company's Web site.
     
  • Given a specific hospitality company, generate a story board for an effective Web site.
     
  • Briefly explain factors influencing Internet branding.
     
  • Use examples to summarise effective permission marketing.
     
  • Use examples to discuss treating email as business communication
Evaluation
  • 25% Active class participation - Emails, readings-based questions, contribute to and lead class discussions.
     
  • 25% Optional activity (select one)
    1. Online resume - post your resume online (due Thursday)
    2. Explore domain name registration (due Wednesday)
       
  • 25% Test - Short test addressing course objectives.
     
  • 25% Group Project - In teams of four to six, you will analyse relationships between domain name age and hotel website (due Thursday)
